Pastor Larry Dozier

Pastor Larry has been a member of the Hollypark United Methodist Church the past 20 years, where he has served as Administrative Council Chair and Lay Leader, among other leadership positions and currently is president of United Methodist Men.

Dozier served as the Pastor of St. John’s United Methodist Church in Watts from 2017 to 2019. While at St. Johns, Pastor Larry engaged the community and garnered large donations from organizations that were inspired by his vision of an Oasis in the Desert. One such innovation was a regulation-sized basketball court called the Oasis in the church parking lot, which provides a place for local residents to gather, play basketball, etc., in their neighborhood, in a safe environment. The project, which cost upwards of $150,000, was donated by the Venice Basketball group. The project still generates income for the church by hosting events on the custom designed basketball court.

The Sierra Club and Grid Alternatives teamed up to donate a solar unit to the church at a cost of $20,000. Dozier says that he plans to continue to work with such organizations to achieve mutual objectives for communities that TNECC serve.

Pastor Larry is a Certified Lay Minister within the United Methodist Church and currently serves as a member of the national General Commission on United Methodist Men’s Foundation, and he is the vice president of United Methodist men for the Western Jurisdiction.

Shamia Walker

 Shamia Walker is a college student currently attending Los Angeles Southwest College, where she is pursuing her education in the nursing field. With a strong passion for helping others and serving her community, she is committed to building a career centered around compassion, care, and meaningful connection. Her academic dedication has earned her recognition on the Dean’s List, reflecting both her strong work ethic and commitment to personal and professional growth. 

Shamia currently serves as the Office Manager Intern at New Earth Christian Church, where she supports administrative operations and contributes to creating a welcoming and organized environment for staff and church members. Through this role, she has continued to strengthen her communication, leadership, and organizational skills while gaining valuable experience in professionalism, teamwork, and community service within a faith-based environment. 

In addition to her current position, Shamia has experience working with children and students through tutoring and childcare roles. She participated in a student-to-student tutoring internship in partnership with the University of California, Los Angeles, where she worked one-on-one with students to improve their academic skills in subjects such as math, reading, and writing. Her patience, encouragement, and ability to connect with students helped create a supportive learning environment that promoted both confidence and academic growth. 

Shamia has also worked as a babysitter, where her responsibilities included tutoring support, meal preparation, supervision, and maintaining a safe and positive environment for children. These experiences helped strengthen her sense of responsibility, compassion, and ability to work closely with families and young people from different backgrounds. 

Living in Los Angeles, Shamia values faith, community, and personal growth in every area of her life. Outside of work and school, she enjoys reading, spending time at the beach, shopping, and doing Bible study. Her reading, spending time at the beach, shopping, and doing Bible study. Her faith plays an important role in shaping her character and the way she approaches both her personal and professional life. She believes in leading with kindness, empathy, and integrity while continuously striving to positively impact those around her. 

As she continues her educational and professional journey, Shamia hopes to build a successful career in nursing where she can combine her passion for healthcare with her dedication to serving others. She is committed to lifelong learning and looks forward to making a meaningful 

difference within her community and the healthcare field through compassion, service, and leadership.
